Free Room and Board!

Accommodations

First of all, accommodations are free! There are hotels and motels in the area but we encourage participants to spend the whole weekend at the house. For sleeping arrangements we have the following extra sleeping space:
  • 2 queen size beds
  • 6 single beds
  • 1 fold out couch
  • 1 large couch (fits two)
  • 2 futons
  • 3 large sheep skins (very comfortable)
  • 2 sleeping bags
  • 1 Hammock
  • and lots of floor space!

  • Should attendance exceed our capacity, we have a contingency plan so that everyone can stay at the tournament site. We do not want anyone feeling pressured against staying on site, or for staying onsite.

Prefer to stay in a hotel?

This is not a problem. There are several hotels in the area. Should you wish to stay at a hotel, simply Email HuskyCon and we will find something for you that is convenient. (Note: The cost of staying in a hotel is not covered by HuskyCon. Room is only free if staying on site.)

    Board

Just like the accommodations, full board is free! My parents prepare food for most meals during the weekend. There will be plenty of food and drink for everyone such that you will not have to pay for meals. Everything will be provided. Below is a list of food that we typically serve during the event:
  • Choucroute
  • Cold Cut Platters
  • New York Bagels
  • Beef Goulash
  • Roasted Vegetables
  • Burgers and Hot Dogs
  • Steaks

  • Non-Gaming Attractions

  • Kayaking
  • Swimming
  • Boating
  • Jet skiing
  • Long walks on the beach at sunset

  • The tournament is held at the Woodring home in New York. All guests are invited to spend the weekend on site, and enjoy gaming, the beautiful views over Long Island Sound, swimming, kayaking and many other activities.

One of the big attractions of the weekend is having the opportunity to play on the giant diplomacy board . The board was painted onto a ping pong table by Don Woodring and Jason Holt (a young artist and friend of the Woodrings). The board is about 8 feet by 4 feet (1.2 meters 2.4 meters) and has it's own set of custom made blocks.

Below are a few pictures of the view from the backyard.
